Introduction
In this article, we will describe how to set up OptiTrack to be used as a camera tracking system in Aximmetry.
For OptiTrack hardware setup and troubleshooting please refer to the official OptiTrack documentation.
Preparation
First of all, you need to download and install OptiTrack's Motive application. Make sure to run it before launching Aximmetry, because Aximmetry gets the tracking data through it.
The set of trackers you have mounted on the camera has to be added as a rigid body in Motive.
You also have to set up Motive to stream the tracking data.
In Aximmetry
Single Machine
If Motive runs on the same PC as Aximmetry, you can select OptiTrack tracking as a Tracking Device input.
Whenever you open a dropdown list for selecting a tracking device in Aximmetry, all the OptiTrack rigid bodies should be listed in 1-2 seconds.
If the device does not appear, or it does not work properly, please try to switch off the Windows Firewall.
Separate Machines
If Motive and Aximmetry run on different machines, start Aximmetry. In the Startup Configuration, select the Device Mapper
Select OptiTrack.
Select the network adapter through which you can communicate with the other PC on your local network.
Then specify the IP of the other PC (Server IP).
Again, if it does not work, try to switch off the Firewall on both PCs.
After this, when you open a dropdown list for selecting a tracking device in Aximmetry, all the OptiTrack rigid bodies should be listed in 1-2 seconds.
