Using Indiemark/Glassmark

Author:
Please note that this is a BETA version of the document. All information presented is correct but we are working on improving the details.

Hardware Setup

Please follow the manufacturer's documentation:
https://loledvirtual.com/documentation/docs
until you get your zoom, and optionally the focus encoders connected and assigned to the slots of your choice in the LONET software.

No Mapping Is Needed

You do not have to create any lens mapping within LONET, since assigning the different encoder positions to focal lengths and several other lens parameters are done in Aximmetry's own Camera Calibrator.

Defining Aximmetry Zoom Device

Go to Manage Devices in Aximmetry. This can be reached from the Startup Configuration of either Aximmetry Composer or Aximmetry Camera Calibrator.

Alternatively, if you've already started Aximmetry Composer, you can modify the device setup at any time by choosing the Edit menu / Manage Devices.

Find the Lonet device type and click Add.

Leave Hostname on default if the LONET server is running on the same PC. Otherwise, specify the other PC's IP address or name. The Port number has to be identical to the one you selected in the LONET software, usually, it's the default.

Specify the slots you have chosen in the LONET software for the Zoom and Focus encoders.

Click OK. This adds the device to the list. As can see, one Aximmetry device stands for a zoom+focus pair of encoders. You can define further encoder pairs if you have multiple cameras.

Click OK.

Lens Calibration

In order to get any encoder hardware to work in Aximmetry, you have to go through a lens calibration procedure for your camera. You can do this using either Aximmetry Camera Calibrator (recommended) or Aximmetry Basic Calibrator.
In Camera Calibrator. Specify the newly defined device as the Zoom Device, and set the Tracking Device to whichever system you use for camera position tracking.

NOTE: The Tracking Device parameter has been renamed to Calibration Profile in recent releases.

NOTE: Aximmetry Camera Calibrator does not yet support focus calibration. You can use the Basic Calibrator to open the calibration file and add focus calibration. More on Basic Calibrator here: Basic Calibrator

Using the Encoders in a Scene

When you specify the inputs of your scene with TrackedCam, specify the Lonet device as the Zoom Device, select the lens file you created with Camera Calibrator in Tracking Mode, and set Tracking Device to whichever system you use for camera position tracking.

NOTE: The Tracking Device parameter has been renamed to Calibration Profile in recent releases.
