LED Startup Configuration Settings

Author:

Introduction

LED Wall-based virtual productions usually require multiple outputs from your computer. This document discusses how to configure your video output devices for your production requirements.

IMPORTANT: Always match the frame rates of the camera(s), tracking device(s), LED Wall(s), genlock device, and the Final Program Output!
NOTE: The settings below are recommended for a Single-Machine LED Wall setup (uses one computer only).

Startup Configuration

NOTE: Screenshot of unmapped GPU and SDI outputs listed as available in the Aximmetry Startup Configuration window.
NOTE: The first AVAILABLE MONITOR OUTPUTS has a red highlight around its ID number. This shows that Aximmetry's GUI is currently displayed on this video output device; therefore, we do not recommend using it for any other purpose.

In the Startup Configuration window's Video Outputs panel, make the following settings:
NOTE: The following settings represent the best practice. We recommend using these settings if you are new to Aximmetry.
NOTE: Aximmetry is highly flexible and allows other setup configurations to work as well.

Preview output

NOTE: Screenshot of a GPU output mapped on Index #1, used for Preview purposes.

The Preview video output will play an important role during the setup process of your LED Walls.
If you are using a dual-monitor setup (recommended), then for Preview purposes, assign Index #1 for your second monitor (while the other monitor will be used to display Aximmetry Composer, and therefore won't get any Index number).
NOTE: Aximmetry's LEDWallCam camera compounds are by default configured to use video channel #1 for the Preview.

Final Program Output

NOTE: Example of an SDI capture card mapped on Index #2, used for the Final Program Output
.
IMPORTANT: In the case of using a Single-Machine LED Setup (one computer only), make sure to set Sync for your Final Program Output (#2).

For the Final Program Output, assign Index #2
NOTE: Aximmetry's LEDWallCam camera compounds are by default configured to use video channel #2 for the Final Program Output.

LED Wall Outputs

NOTE: Example of an LED Wall appearing as a system monitor in Aximmetry Composer.
NOTE: The above screenshot is made only for representative purposes. Your LED Wall will likely report a larger, non-standard screen resolution.

LED Walls appear as system monitors both in Windows and Aximmetry. Their resolution and frame rate are controlled by the LED processor; therefore, you cannot adjust them from Aximmetry Composer or the Startup Configuration window.
If the LED Walls are set up correctly in the LED processor's software, then the LED processor should report the LED Walls' native resolution and frame rate.

NOTE: Example of GPU output mapped on Index #3 used for main LED Wall Output
NOTE: In case of having multiple LED Wall Outputs, the additional outputs need to be set to the subsequent Index numbers (#4, #5, #6, etc). To create those Index numbers, click on the "+" button, highlighted in the top left corner of the screenshot.

For the first (main) LED Wall Output, assign Index #3.

Settings Adjustments

Recommended

After opening Aximmetry Composer, it is recommended to head to Edit/Preferences/Output Screens to adjust the following settings:

  • Turn off Cursor is visible over outputs in case of using HDMI cables to provide output to the LED processor.
