Setting Up Arion for Using with Aximmetry

Author: Aximmetry

Introduction

This document discusses how to set up Aximmetry as a Media Object Server in Arion.

Basic Information

The Aximmetry MOS has two different roles in the NRCS.
IMPORTANT: You can use a single computer for both these roles. However, for added reliability and redundancy, it is recommended to use two computers, one for each role.

Web Server

The Web Server runs the HTML plugin used to access the MOS library (containing the prepared media objects) and to prepare the Running Orders.

Host

The Host provides the real-time graphics used and broadcast in the show.

Basic Setup

Create New Device

Log in to Arion. On the top right corner of the menu bar, navigate to Settings:

On the left-side menu bar, navigate to Integrations / Devices:

On the top right side of the main panel (under user account), click on New to add a new device:

Set Up the New Device's Identification

After creating a new device, in the pop-up window, set the following Identification parameters:

NOTE: If the pop-up window does not appear, double-left-click on the new device.

Name

It is used internally in Arion; you can choose any arbitrary name for this parameter.

Vendor

Select the Vendor from whom you gained access to Arion, if it's listed among the options.
If not, then select SNews.

Protocol

Must select MOS Protocol

Types

Must select CG (Character Generator).

Set Up the New Device's Access

After setting up the new device's Identification parameters, in the pop-up window, navigate to Access to set the following parameters:

Revision

Must select 2.8.5.

Host

This is the Aximmetry machine's IP address.

MOS ID

This is the Aximmetry Media Object Server's name.
The default name is: main.aximmetry.mos

NOTE: To learn more about this please refer to the following document:
MOS Setup

Plugin

Must select HTML.

URL

For the URL, you must specify the following information:
Example: http://192.168.100.10:21468/mos
Description: http://ipaddressoftheAximmetryMOS:HTTPwebserverportnumber/mos*

The IP address of the Aximmetry Media Object Server can be the same address you specified in the Host parameter:

  • IF the Web Server and the Host are the same machines, the Host's and the URL's IP address are the same
  • IF the Web Server and the Host are two different machines, then the Host's IP address and the URL's are different.

The HTTP web server's port number is the same parameter we enabled in Aximmetry Composer / Preferences / HTTP Control. Its default value is 21468.
*mos is a keyword in the URL needed to access Aximmetry's MOS plugin page.

Input

Must select UTF-16.

Output

Must select UTF-16BE.

Lower Port

Do not adjust this parameter.

Its default value is 10540.

Upper Port

Do not adjust this parameter.

Its default value is 10541.

Query Port

Do not adjust this parameter.

Its default value is 10542.

Test Connection

Once the Access parameters are set up, you can click on the Test button to test the connection.
NOTE: You can test the connection even if only Arion's side is set up, and the Aximmetry Media Object Server is online, Aximmetry Composer is running, but not yet configured to connect to Arion.

Aximmetry Settings

NOTE: Below, only the settings specific to Arion are listed. For all Aximmetry-related MOS settings, please refer to the following document:
How to Set Up MOS in Aximmetry

Go to Edit / Preferences / MOS Control and make the following settings:

  • Enable MOS control: check
  • MOS ID: the same ID you set as Address in the Arion MOS Configuration
  • NCS IP: the IP of the Arion server PC
  • NCS ID: the ID of the Arion system; it is always the NetBIOS name of the Arion server
  • Expose compounds in...: specify one or more root folders where you store your MOS object compounds
  • Enable play/stop control...: check if you want to control the items from Arion, otherwise leave it off.
  • Leave the rest on default.
