Streaming to Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other VoIP software

Author:

Introduction

This article explains how to share your Aximmetry output on Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) software.

The easiest way to do it is by using an NDI signal produced by Aximmetry.

For this, you will need two things:

  • We assume you are already familiar with setting up NDI output in Aximmetry. If not, please refer to this document first: NDI In/Output Setup

  • NDI Tools

NDI Tools

NDI Tools is a software package that provides utilities for handling NDI signals, including a virtual webcam driver that lets you use NDI streams as camera sources in other applications.

Download the NDI tools software from the official NDI website and install the software.

NDI Connection Setup

Launch NDI tools.

Start the NDI Webcam app from the NDI Tools startup page by clicking on it:

Note: You can also start the NDI Webcam app directly, for example, from the Start Menu:

Click on the gear icon at one of the webcam video slots, and you will see all the NDI video streams on the network.
Select the NDI stream that gives the output you would like to use.
In this example, the Aximmetry NDI Output is produced by an instance of Aximmetry running on a laptop.

We suggest setting the video mode in Aximmetry’s NDI output to 1080p30 and enabling Sync, but you may adjust these settings as needed.

Open Microsoft Teams.

Find the Settings option in the three-dot menu at the top right.
Under the Devices tab, set the Camera to an NDI Webcam Video.

It is generally best to turn off all effects settings for the video, as shown in the screenshot.

NOTE: You may need to enable camera access for Teams to allow the NDI Webcam's picture to appear. Go to Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera, and ensure that camera access is enabled for Microsoft Teams.

During a call, you can also select NDI Webcam Video directly from the Camera dropdown menu:

Stream to Zoom with NDI

We suggest setting the video mode in Aximmetry’s NDI output to 1080p30 and enabling Sync, but you may adjust these settings as needed.

Launch Zoom.

On your Zoom startup page, click Settings.

Go to the Video & effects tab, select a NDI Webcam Video as Camera:

NOTE: You may need to enable camera access for Zoom to allow the NDI Webcam's picture to appear. Go to Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera, and ensure that camera access is enabled for Zoom.
