How to Install Aximmetry

Author: Aximmetry

Introduction

This document discusses the installation, repair, and removal process of Aximmetry and all of its components (e.g., Content Packages, Render Components like AX Scene Editor and AX Scene Render Node).
NOTE: This document only discusses the installation, modification, and removal of Aximmetry and Aximmetry Render Components. The process is identical to the following Aximmetry Standalone Applications' process:

  • Aximmetry Calibrator
  • Aximmetry Gateway

Create a My Aximmetry Account

To download Aximmetry, you will need to create an account. There are several benefits of having a user account at Aximmetry.
You can create a user at https://my.aximmetry.com/

Aximmetry Installer

IMPORTANT: Starting from version 2024.1.0, Aximmetry received a brand-new installer. The documentation below discusses the use of the new installer.
NOTE: To learn more about installing an older version of Aximmetry (version 2025.3.0 or earlier), please refer to the following documentation:
How to Install Aximmetry (ver. 2025.3.0 or earlier)
How to Install Aximmetry (ver. 2023.3.2 or earlier)
How to Install Content Packages (ver. 2023.3.2 or earlier)

The new installer of Aximmetry allows for the following opportunities:

  • Installation of multiple instances of Aximmetry on the same computer
NOTE: Although multiple instances can be installed on the same computer, only one instance of Aximmetry can run at a time.

    • You can install different editions of the same version number (2024.1.0 or later) without restrictions
    • You can install different version numbers (2024.1.0 or later) of the same edition without restrictions
NOTE: An example of this would be to install a Professional DE 2024.1.0 and a Calibrator 2024.1.0 (different editions) on the same computer,
AND/OR a Broadcast DE 2024.1.0 and a Broadcast & Film 2025.3.0 (different version numbers) on the same computer.

    • You can install one instance of an earlier version (2023.3.2 or earlier).
NOTE: An example of this would be to install a Broadcast DE 2023.3.2 and a Broadcast & Film 2025.3.0 on the same computer.

  • Individually customizable Location (target destination folder) for every component available.
NOTE: The Projects folder's default location has changed to the root of the main drive (C:\AximmetryProjects\), allowing for easy access in case of using multiple user accounts on the same computer.

Installing Aximmetry

You can download the installer from your My Aximmetry account's Software tab. Click 'Download Latest Version'.

We recommend that you always update Aximmetry to the latest version.

Select Language

Upon starting the installer, you will see a Welcome note.
Select the language of your choice, then click Next to continue:

Select Components

The next step is the addition of Aximmetry components on your computer.
Here you can select which components to install by left-mouse clicking on the component.
You can also specify individual locations (target destinations) for each component.

IMPORTANT: Starting from version 2026.1.0, the use of Unreal Engine requires an individual Aximmetry Render Component (AX Scene Editor or AX Scene Render Node). These Render Components are now shipped with an individual installer and are installed separately from Aximmetry. See more about this later.
NOTE: The default components selected are: Aximmetry *edition name + version number*, and Common Library *version number.
NOTE: Ensure that you do not deselect the Common Library content package during installation if you plan to use AX Scehe Editor, as it contains the essential Unreal Camera blueprints for Aximmetry.
NOTE: Locations present on the screenshot above are the default locations of the corresponding components.

License Agreements

Select "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" to proceed to the beginning of the installation process:

Start the Installation

Click on Start to begin installing Aximmetry and its components:

Complete the Installation

Once the installation is complete, you'll see the following messages displayed in the installer:

IMPORTANT: In version 2025.2.0 and earlier, Unreal Engine for Aximmetry is a DE edition-only component. If you are installing Aximmetry SE, you will not see this component.
NOTE: The default components selected are: Aximmetry *edition name + version number*, and Common Library *version number.

NOTE: You may see fewer components installed, depending on the version of Aximmetry you choose and the previously selected components.

Installing the AX Render Component

IMPORTANT: Starting from version 2026.1.0, the use of Unreal Engine requires an individual Aximmetry Render Component (AX Scene Editor or AX Scene Render Node). These Render Components are now shipped with an individual installer and are installed separately from Aximmetry

The installation process of both AX Scene Editor and AX Scene Render Node is the same. This documentation will proceed using AX Scene Editor as the example.

AX Render Component Prerequisites

For complex Unreal Engine projects with C++ plugins, or for projects that include code, Visual Studio 2026 must be downloaded and installed for cooking to work.
When downloading Visual Studio 2026, you can opt for the Community Edition, which is available for free. Official installation instructions, including the download link, can be found here.

When prompted to choose a workload during the installation process, you must select the following:

  • .NET desktop development
  • Desktop development with C++

Windows SDK

IMPORTANT: For the Windows SDK, specific SDK versions are required for specific Unreal Engine versions.
This specific version has to be installed on your computer for the Aximmetry Render Component to work

Aximmetry Versions Unreal Engine version Windows SDK version
2026.2.0 (coming soon) 5.7 (coming soon) 10.0.22621.0
2026.1.0-2025.3.0 5.6 10.0.22621.0
2025.2.0 5.5 10.0.22621.0
2025.1.0-2024.3.0 5.4 10.0.18362
2024.2.0-2023.3.1 5.3 10.0.18362

NOTE: Other versions of the Windows SDK can also be installed on our computer, though they are not required for the AX Render Component.

To install the specific version of the SDK, head to the Individual components menu, and copy-paste the Windows SDK version number from the above table into the search bar:

NOTE: Example of searching and selecting a Windows 11 SDK to be installed for Unreal Engine 5.6 / Aximmetry version 2026.1.0

MSVC Build Tool

IMPORTANT: For the MSVC Build Tool, two versions are required for the Unreal Engine: the latest and a specific version.
In the Individual Components tab, select the following two versions for Aximmetry versions between 2026.1.0 and 2023.3.1 (Unreal Engine 5.6 - 5.3):

  • MSVC Build Tools for x64/x86 (Latest)
NOTE: It is selected by default, but it is recommended to double-check it.

  • MSVC v143 - VS 2022 C++ x64/x86 build tools (v14.38-17.8)

NOTE: Finding the right component can be difficult. The most important information to find the above-listed build tools is: 'MSVC', 'x64/x86', 'build tools', '(latest)', and the version number (e.g., 'v14.38').
NOTE: With newer versions of the Visual Studio installer, these components may be named differently.

For the most up-to-date information on using Visual Studio with Unreal Engine, refer to Unreal Engine's official documentation.

NOTE: Some plugins are only active in the editor. These editor-only plugins do not require installing Visual Studio.

Download AX Render Component

You can download the installer from your My Aximmetry account's Software tab. Corresponding versions of the AX Render Component are arranged right under the edition/license they belong to.

Launch Installer, Select Language

Select Component

The next step is the addition of the Aximmetry render component on your computer.
Here you can select the component to install by left-mouse clicking on it.
You can also specify individual locations (target destinations) for the component.

NOTE: The location present on the screenshot above is the default location of the AX Scene Editor component.

NOTE: This option is only available for Aximmetry itself, but not for its components (e.g., Content Packages)
NOTE: You may leave all the other components installed. Clean Install only requires the reinstallation of Aximmetry (its components, such as the Content Package, do not need to be reinstalled).

Remove

To remove Aximmetry or any of its components, simply deselect the component by clicking on it or selecting REMOVE:

You can also choose to remove all settings as well by selecting the "Remove all settings as well" option:

NOTE: This option is only available for Aximmetry itself, but not for its components (e.g., Content Packages)
